Winner 2009
Elaine Bigelow '10
"The last two years have been very difficult ones for us, our numbers being depleted with study abroad and injuries ...... The effects were most deeply felt this year when we struggled to put 15 players on the field and, on more than one occasion, failed. Things are getting back on track and we expect to have at least 20 players to start next year even before recruiting begins. The person most responsible for leading us through this tough time period has certainly been, and continues to be, Elaine. The award description refers to Kipling's famous poem "If." The ideal persons in this poem are able to keep their head and maintain a positive attitude while all about them seems to be descending into chaos. Elaine has led the team both on and off the field in the face of so much adversity she would definitely be a worthy recipient of the Rogers award".
